When do Network Scouts meet?

Back to top

Any person aged between 18 and 25 years of age can be a Network Scout.

Existing members of 1st Bedworth Scout Group are automatically members of ‘The Network’

Several members of our Network Unit are also Leaders in the youth sections of the Group and others ‘help out’ the youth sections

Currently our Network meets at the same time as our Explorer Scout Unit. This is on a Monday usually from 7.30pm to 9.30pm but times can vary according to the activity being undertaken. There also other activities on some other evenings and on some weekends.

We hope that as our Network membership is growing that soon the Network will have their own meeting day and times.

What do Network Scouts do?

The monthly subscirption for Network Scouts is £2.50 Those members of Network who assist with the youth sections of the Group do not pay this subscription.

This subscription covers activity insurance, programme materials, badges and helping to heat, light and maintain the building. It is still payable even if a member does not attend a Unit Night.

Please also be aware that activities outside of the Unit Night may be at extra cost.

Network Scouts enjoy lots of social activities and have the opportunity to take part in more challenging adventurous activities. In addition to the Scout Associations own training and award scheme, 1st Bedworth also offers the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

The programme includes a wide selection of activities with the emphasis on the outdoors. This means we also offer occasional activities on other nights and weekends which may be at extra cost.

The Network Scout Promise & Law

Back to top

As with the other sections of 1st Bedworth, Network Scouts wear uniform on formal occasions and when assisting with the youth sections in the Group. This uniform is the same as the one worn by the adult leaders.

* A smart stone coloured shirt,

* Royal blue necka’

* Black or dark grey trousers,

* Black, navy blue or dark grey socks,

* Black boots or shoes.

The shirt costs £21.00 and is available from us. The necka’ is presented free when the Networker is invested.

Once a new recruit has their uniform they take part in a simple ceremony where they make the promise and become a full member. This ceremony is called an 'investiture'

Network Scouts are expected to learn and accept the Promise and Law before their investiture.

The Scout Promise:

On my honour, I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and to the Queen, to help other people and to keep the Scout Law

The Scout Law:

1. A Scout is to be trusted

2. A Scout is loyal

3. A Scout is friendly and considerate

4. A Scout is a member of the world wide family of Scouts

5. A Scout has courage in all difficulties
