Explorer Scouts is the last of the four youth sections offered by 1st Bedworth.
At the first meeting, recruits are given a registration form which must be completed by a parent or carer and returned to a leader at the next week’s Unit Night..
1st Bedworth has one Explorer Unit which usually meets from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on a Monday evening, but sometimes these times can vary depending upon the activity being undertaken.
There are also opportunities to attend activities and camps on some other evenings and on some weekends.

Weekly subscriptions for membership of 1st Bedworth is £2.00 per week for all sections.
This fee covers activity insurance, programme materials, badges and helping to heat, light and maintain the building. It is still payable even if a member does not attend a Unit Night.
Please also be aware that activities outside of the Unit Night may be at extra cost.
Explorer Scouts enjoy lots of social activities and have the opportunity to take part in more challenging adventurous activities. In addition to the Scout Associations own training and award scheme, 1st Bedworth also offers the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
The programme includes a wide selection of activities with the emphasis on the outdoors. This means we also offer occasional activities on other nights and weekends which may be at extra cost.
Meetings are run by a trained, experienced, Explorer Scout Leader who is supported by a team of Assistant Explorer Scout Leaders and helpers who have all been vetted by an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
Explorer Scouts are offered the chance to work as Young Leaders with the junior sections of the Group. Young People who take up this opportunity are given leadership training including modules on first aid, managing groups, programme planning and child protection. Young Leader volunteering counts towards Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme..
As with the other sections of 1st Bedworth, Explorer Scouts wear uniform on some Unit Nights and activities.
* A smart beige coloured shirt,
* Royal blue necka’
* Black or dark grey trousers,
* Black, navy blue or dark grey socks,
* Black boots or shoes.
The shirt is available from us and costs £21. The necka’ is presented free when the Explorer is invested, and most Explorers wear their school trousers and shoes with their uniform.
Once a new recruit has their uniform they take part in a simple ceremony where they make the promise and become a full member. This ceremony is called an 'investiture' and with Explorers we have a tradition to hold the Investiture on a memorable occasion or at an unusual location.
Explorer Scouts are expected to learn the Promise and Law before their investiture.
The Scout Promise:
On my honour, I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and to the Queen, to help other people and to keep the Scout Law
The Scout Law:
1. A Scout is to be trusted
2. A Scout is loyal
3. A Scout is friendly and considerate
4. A Scout is a member of the world wide family of Scouts
5. A Scout has courage in all difficulties
6. A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property
7. A Scout has self respect and respect for others
