Survival camp report by Todd H

Day 1

We arrived at the car park to meet Meek, and then Charlie escorted us to the campsite. We then did flagbreak. After that we got into our layers. The patrols was Sarah, Phillip, Leah, and the one and only Dom. Then we started to make a fire and as Dom says, “7 stick bivvy.” At 2.00 in the morning we then made a stretcher and carried Phil on it. Then eventually we went to bed.

Day 2

On Saturday morning we woke up at 6.00am and Liam and Nathan walked over. We had to do a challenge to get out brecky. We had to find some eggs in a big field, I found 2, Leah found 1 and Phil found 1 and stood on 1 so me, Leah, Sarah, and Dom had to do 50 press ups. Each 50 we did and then we ate the food collected. We had to fill a can full of berries and made berry twists. Soon after we went wood collecting. The best bit came next when we cooked two rabbits. We started off by breaking their legs and cut them off. We then broke its neck and cut its head off. Phil and Dom did this bit. Phil then skinned it and I cleaned it and washed it out. They both were rolled in tin foil and cooked for 1 hour. We then ate it and it tasted like strong chicken. After Liam and Nathan came over and we played a game of cheat with cards we made. Then I dropped off early.

Day 3

I woke up nice and early and fitted in 12 hours of sleep. We then cut down our badly make bivvy and burnt it and then cleaned up the campsite and cleared the fire. We then walked up to the main camp, got into our uniform and did flagdown and then we went home.

Survival camp started Friday night when Camper X said we will build a good bivvy tonight! We did but NB and LM were told to collect wood so we did, but this is when it all started to go wrong. We each got given a ration pack, each with a can of fizzy beverage in. Camper X told us to give in all our cans to Camper X and we would drink a can and share it between us so NB, LM and MK drank our fair share but Camper X downed it and the next day Camper X said they choked on a sausage and so they had to drink a whole can. NB and LM were sleeping on Saturday night when suddenly at 3.43 am Camper X took down our side of the bivvy and burnt it to keep warm. Then Camper x moved in front of the fire and NB and LM started freezing. We stayed up and kept the fire going for 3 hours then Camper X said to collect wood while Camper X went to the toilet for 1 and a half hours. We were not happy but apart from that a great camp!
