Scout and Explorer Winter Camp
On Fridays 10th December it was Scouts and Explores Winter Camp. We all had to be at the Scout Hut for 6pm and pack all of our kit on the trailer. We left Bedworth about 6.30pm on our way to Yorkshire. It took about 2hours & 30minutes to get there because of the weather and Friday night traffic. The mini bus journey was good because we all had fun singing to all of the songs that were on the radio. We finally got there about 9’ish or even later. We all got the things into the building on the camp site. We found water dripping from the ceiling in the corridors but it wasn’t that bad. The leaders cooked us some food and we all sat down with a nice burger and a hot drink. We sat talking until late and then it was time for everyone to turn in.
Saturday morning finally came and we were all told to get ready and get some food down us because we were heading to the York Dungeons and the train museum. So we all got ready had food and left the camp site about 10.00am.The first attraction we went to was the train museum which was quiet good, even though to be honest I am not into trains. We all got separated in to 4 groups and we all had a leader with us. We all looked round the museum and we even spoke to some people that look after the trains which was good. We stayed there till 1.00pm and then we headed over to the York Dungeon which was really good. The whole Scout Group got separated into two groups because there were too many off us to go round as one group . I was in the first group which was Dave and Chris group. First we had to have are photo taken of Dave getting his head chopped of by one of the Scouts. We finally went in and it was quiet scary at first but then I got use to it because I been there before. The bit I hated in the Dungeons was where it went black and there someone talking, and then a man appears in your face, but it was good. We finally came to the end of the dungeons and it was time for Christmas night shopping. We all had some time to go round the shops and buy presents for friends or family or even your self. It was very busy down the shops but we would expect that anyway, so it didn’t really bother us. We all had enough off shopping so we headed back to the campsite ready for tea, to watch a d.v.d and just relax. We all sat in the chilling room, and all talked and got ready to watch the film, but half off us like me, Paige, Todd, Liam, Luke, Jodie, Sophie all sat near the radiator and had a good chat. It was about midnight when the Scouts had to turn in to bed, while the Explores were allowed to stay up for longer.
On Sunday it was ice skating and swimming all day, but first again we had to get changed and get all are things packed ready to put it on the trailer. This was so we could have longer time at ice skating and bowling. We finally got all the things on the trailer and breakfast was cooked. We all had to clean up in the hut. We all cleaned our bedrooms and the corridors, and then I started helping to clean the big and small hall. We all sat down for breakfast and Maxine went to check the rooms and the toilets. She came back to us and she asked a girl to go clean the toilets and empty the bins but no one went. Maxine said she would pick someone but no I stood up and said fine I will do it if no one else is going to do it. We finally got on the mini bus while the Camp Warden came down to see if it was tidy enough. The Warden was very pleased and said the building was the cleanest he had ever seen it. So we finally headed off to the dome. We got half way and then one of the Explores started being sick. We had to stop so he could get some fresh air and then we carried on travelling. We got to the dome and then again a girl Scout started being sick and then we all realised it was a bug going round . Todd said he’d bet any money that it would be Alice next, and yep it was me being sick this time. So none off the three of us were allowed to go swimming because we were sick. When we got into the swimming baths I felt a lot better so me and bagger and Paige started raving to all the songs that came on and all the people in the swimming baths looked at us and started laughing. Then the Scouts in the pool started raving as well and laughing, it was really good. Some off the Scouts and Explores starting coming out and joining the ravers which was me, badger and Paige. It finally came to ice skating time so we headed down to the ice skating area which was in the same building as the swimming. The 3 people that were sick started feeling ill again which wasn’t good, and then more people started feeling sick, but we all still went on the ice. I went round but we didn’t play tig like Chris, Nathan and Liam because these guys were quiet good at ice skating. We all had fun. It was time to all get off the ice and ready to go home. It was about 4.00pm when we started travailing home. We all fell asleep on the mini bus because everyone was shattered from camp. It was about 6.00pm when we got back to Bedworth and we found out more people have been sick!
Overall I think 1st Bedworth enjoyed that camp and glad they went. So I would like to thank Dave and all the leaders that went, and that organised that camp. It was a very good camp to go on and it was very relaxed as well because we didn’t rush or anything. So thank you very much
