District Beaver Challenge Day

The day was originally planned for mid September but the date had to be moved. We were a little concerned about what the autumn weather may bring as some of the bases were to be held outside so we suggested warm clothing and waterproof coats….we need not have worried! We had a glorious sunny day with blue skies and roaring temperatures! No coats needed! If anything the struggle was to keep up with the busy beavers drinking their squash as they went about their tasks.

We had 10 teams arrive from various groups around the district to have a go at the 14 bases we had set up. There was a mix of physical and mental challenges such as an obstacle course, climbing wall, pioneering, international languages, a quiz and code breaking. Then there was a crisp tasting activity, kims game, water game, some craft bases and more.

It was an afternoon where no one ever seemed to stand still and all I could see was groups of Beavers intently concentrating on the task in hand. They all did a fabulous job, firstly listening to the instructions then diving into the challenge and working as hard as they could to complete it to the best of their ability.

I was so impressed with the effort every single person put into the afternoon and the scores were incredible. A big well done to the Nuneaton North B team, who gained the most points and won the overall competition. Everybody left to go home with a well deserved sense of achievement and I can confidently say we all had great fun and a brilliant time.

Thank you so much to all of the Beavers and their leaders who were able to join us on the day. Also a big thank you to the wonderful team of helpers from across the sections at 1st Bedworth who ensured the day ran so smoothly.
